Have you got your FREE Smear test?
Every woman who is a resident in the state and 25 to 60 years of age is entitled to get a FREE Smear test (Babes-Papanicolau test) at every 3 years (and more often in certain situations). It may SAVE your life. You can get your Smear test done in our clinic. Click on the picture above for more details.

Important Notification about Collection of Medical/Dental and Personal Documents

Due to the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations), we are unable to allow any documents (prescriptions, letters, completed applications, medical records, a.s.o) to be collected by third parties (family members, friends, a.s.o).
These are to be collected ONLY by those they are addressed to. In the event you’re not able to attend and collect these documents yourself, you may nominate a third party (a person of your choice) who you delegate to present to the Reception desk at the surgery. This nomination must be made in writing (confirmatory own signature is required) and must be presented to the receptionist by the person nominated to collect the respective documents. In the interest of the patients and quality of service, starting the 20th of March 2017 we will not be regularly able to accommodate walk-in patients (private & medical card) during the surgery hours.
If you genuinely think you have a medical emergency that cannot wait longer, please email the reception at appointments@charlestownmedicalcewntre.ie or ring us at 01-5079190 or 087-7655180 and request an emergency walk-in appointment.
In the situation we are are overly booked and not able to accommodate any more patients, please attend the Emergency Room at your nearest hospital or ring Doctor on Duty (former Mediserve, the GP out-of-hours service) at 01-420 0880 to request a home visit after 6:00pm on Monday to Friday, on Saturday all day excepting 11:00am - 2:00pm and Sunday all day (available for genuine emergency medical situations ONLY!).
New Prescription/Letter/Document Request Policy
Starting the 20th of March 2017, we will kindly ask you to allow 48 hours between your prescription/letter/document requests and the collection time for the same. We will record the request time and will have your medical papers ready for collection 48 hours later.
Please, submit your prescription requests to our Reception desk at least 2 days before their renewal date is due.
In the case of prescriptions issued by hospitals upon the discharge of a patient or for patients who have just attended a hospital Emergency Department, our GP on duty will decide whether the respective prescription addresses a medical emergency or not and will act accordingly.

We've just extended the opening hours for Cervical Smear Tests & Childhood immunisations to meet the increasing number of requests for this type of services.
Nurse Sarah Lowndes is now available to provide these two services every Tuesday from 3:00pm to 7:30pm. Blood tests are not available during the above Tuesday hours.
